Hello
My name is Susan Miller, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) registered in the States of New York and New Jersey. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, parents, couples, and families utilizing a flexible approach drawing from psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness, body-based talking therapies and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies. My goal is to help my patients reduce their anxiety, depression, and somatic pain to lead more productive lives.
My Story
I am a Manhattan-based psychotherapist in private practice specializing in treatment for individuals, couples, and families. As a New York State and New Jersey licensed clinical social worker, I have provided psychotherapy in a variety of mental health settings, including a major New York City social welfare agency and freestanding outpatient clinics. I have also been trained in a variety of modalities that have been shown to be effective in the treatment of teens and adults including psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) for depression and anxiety.
I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a J.D. from New York Law School, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work, practicing since 2009. My post-graduate training includes a certificate in clinical practice with adolescents from NYU Silver School of Social; completing a three-year certificate program in child and adolescent psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute; completing a mini-series on psychoanalytic approaches to treating chronic somatic pain with expert Frances Sommer Anderson through the William Alanson White Institute.
My engagement with adolescents significantly informs my work with adults. I am particularly skilled in working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma, anxiety throughout their lifespan, and relationship difficulties.
